A group of children from Yuepu Music Space in Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, Sichuan Province, have just completed a "Music X Technology" experience journey.
During the four-day trip from September 5th to 8th, 2023, the members of the Yuepu Choir performed at the special event at the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit 2023, bringing a warm and loving choral performance to the audience. Additionally, these children, visiting Shenzhen for the first time, toured the technology exhibition hall at the summit, where they personally experienced and learned about the development and application of digital technology in daily life, and felt the technological charm of the city.
Yuepu Music Space is a project initiated by the Chen Yidan Foundation in partnership with Tencent Music Entertainment Group in 2018, aiming to support musical cultural heritage and children's music literacy education in the Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, Sichuan. This "Music X Technology Experience Journey" is an innovative attempt by Yuepu Music Space to use thematic trips to collaborate with more extensive social welfare resources, further supporting children in expanding their horizons and discovering individual development potential.
Yuepu Choir Performed at Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit 2023
2023 marks the ninth anniversary of the “99 Giving Day,” and the children of the Yuepu Choir, serving as "99 Giving Day Love Ambassadors", performed the song A Little Red Flower on stage. The warm melody and the clear, bright voices of the children deeply moved many in the audience.
Since the first music literacy education class was launched on New Year's Day in 2019, Yuepu Music Space has used music as a medium to accompany over 300 children in their growth in Beichuan, Sichuan. For these children, who have been studying at Yuepu Music Space for over 2-3 years, performing is not unfamiliar—they often participate in choir performances in their local area. However, flying thousands of miles to perform on a city stage was a novel and meaningful experience for them. The sprouting and growth of their musical talents not only accompany them as they grow up in the mountains but also create opportunities for them to perform on larger stages.
Exploring the Digital Technology Exhibition, Experiencing the Multifaceted Charm of a Tech City
During their visit to Shenzhen, the children from Yuepu Music Space took the opportunity to visit the technology exhibition at the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit 2023. They experienced the latest achievements in digital technology up close, including naked-eye 3D communication, intelligent XR studios, and youth artificial intelligence education. They learned about and explored the development and application of digital technology in life and interacted with professionals in the technology industry. The children not only found joy in experiencing novel and exciting tech products but also became curious and eager about the application of technology in future life and learning.
In addition to the exhibition, the children also visited Shenzhen Talent Park, Tencent global headquarters, and other landmarks in Shenzhen, experiencing the multi-faceted nature of the city through its natural landscapes, technological innovation, and culinary culture.
This four-day trip to Shenzhen was of great significance to these 11- and 12-year-old children: for most, it was their first time traveling outside of Sichuan, and they nervously held their teachers' hands as they experienced their first-ever plane ride; it was their first time performing on an urban stage, showcasing their musical talents and learning achievements.
In the future, we will continue to collaborate with all sectors of society to remotely support the growth of the children from Yuepu Music Space.
