1. Introduction

Education is inherently forward-looking, as the future of human society lies in today's education. We continually advance through educational innovations aimed at the future. It is the responsibility and mission of education to outline the future landscape of the education ecosystem and cultivate children's skills and competencies to face the challenges of an uncertain future.

Finnish and Chinese experts collaborated to analyze the history and trends in global competency education, drawing from Finland's methods and experiences in developing competency education and creating a profile of future learners. Integrating this with China's educational practices, the book established the Learner for the Future Competence Frame (LFCF) and proposed the Future Education Syntax (CMYK, C-Competence, M-Method, Y-Year, K-Knowledge) for cultivating future learners.

“This book holds significant value in promoting five major educational transformations: first, viewing education from a global perspective rather than a national one, supporting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind; second, improving the learning matrix from the competencies that learners should possess, providing a more comprehensive framework for curriculum design and implementation; third, emphasizing learning objectives that integrate knowledge, behavior, and emotion, truly empowering learners; fourth, viewing education from a holistic perspective, strengthening the collaborative education of families, schools, and society; finally, looking at education from a future-oriented perspective to avoid the lagging nature of education.”

Senior media professional, Writer-in-Residence at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen)

“This is a forward-looking education book whose most valuable insight is to remind people to adjust their direction of educational thinking: We should first think about what kind of people future society needs, and then consider how to achieve these educational goals such as curriculum settings. The concept of "future learners" proposed in the book is highly enlightening - these learners with five global competencies: exploration, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and care, are the talent goals of future education, embodying kindness, integrity, innovation, and the ability to create a happy life. This book is thus also a guide calling for actions to bring about change in the right direction.”
